People in Eastern Canada have been begging non-stop for major poker events in local casinos. It seems like the West is far ahead of the poker fad than the rest of the country. To this day, Canadian Poker Tour (CPT) events have mainly been taking place in BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.
Well I recently learned that Casino Rama (just north of Toronto) is holding a CPT event Apr 5-7 $500 +50. Kind of a low buy in if you ask me, but it's better than nothing. I'm told that there's only 264 seats available and it's almost 90% sold out.
I was planning to take the 3 days off work and drive up there for the tourny, BUT they only take registrations in person. I guess that kills my plans to play in this CPT event. I don't know how they expect people who don't live close by the casino to register. How can this be labelled a "Canadian" tour if a top poker player from Western Canada wants to register? They will quickly learn they can't play cause they would have to make a trip out to this remote casino a month in advance just to put down their buy in. This clearly excludes players that don't live close by the casino and should NOT even be labelled a CPT event.
Perhaps I'm just upset that I can't get there to register prior to the event. I guess just having a new CPT event in Eastern Canada is a big step, but if they want this thing to take off there needs to be adjustments to the way they accept player registrations.
