I just came back from a vacation in Cuba. For those that don’t know, Cuba is a communist country and embraces socialism. That means all people are equal no matter what job they do. Everything is provided by the government for free… Medical, Food, etc.

Can you imagine relating that situation to a poker player? Every player is equal. Everyone wins the same regardless of skill or effort. I don’t think you’ll find a poker player to agree to those terms. If there’s no chance of gain, then what’s the point?

That leads me to conclude that all poker players are capitalists. The better you play and the more effort you put into it should yield more benefits. That’s not to say we aren’t charitable. Poker players can donate money through PSO points and PSO will match those donations dollar for dollar. Plus most of us pay our taxes… right?

So if you are a socialist poker player I’d like to hear from you. I just can’t see that as a possibility.
